Drudgery. That's what I call the time between winter and summer... nothing really happens except for, maybe green beer. Our last holiday was President's Day. Our next holiday is... what. Memorial Day?? argh!
So, bookworms out there! Have you read anything that blew your mind this past winter?
Recent Cherie reads:
The Kite Runner
Death by Pad Thai and other Unforgettable Meals
Best Food Writing 2005
Bolohead Row
Laci: Inside the Laci Peterson Murder
Currently reading: Lovely Bones
Nikki, Hsiao-wen: you guys always have amassed a plethora of worthwhile reads.
BTW- happy belated new years'!

Re: Call for books! I need good books!
Fri, March 16, 2007 - 1:48 PMI'm in the middle of "The Memory Keeper's Daughter". Really good so far. Finished "The Lovely Bones" a couple of weeks ago, and that was excellent.
Here are some others I've liked:
The Historian (very long read, but good. Different take on the Dracula thing)
The Alchemist
The Inheritence of Loss
For One More Day
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan
Saving Fish from Drowning
If I can think of anymore, I'll let you know. Happy reading! -

The Alchemist (Very good if you haven't already read it)
Bangkok Tattoo (fast but good adventure)
I am currently reading:
Paul Auster's City of Glass (part one of the New York Trilogy) and I am really enjoying it! -

Sun, May 20, 2007 - 10:17 PMhi there... GREAT suggestions for books! I've read The Historian, The Time Traveler's Wife, The Inheritance of Loss, and I've read three Amy Tan books in the past month and a half.
What else shall I pick up?
